Our story
From one orphanage to Liberia's busiest children's center.
- 2008
The beginning
Daryl and Chrissy Roberts found LIVE2540 after Daryl visits Liberia on a church mission trip and sees the needs of vulnerable children firsthand.
- 2008–14
Caring for orphans
We partner with an orphanage in remote Liberia, home to 67 children, most orphaned by the country’s 20-year civil war. We build new dormitories and provide water, food, clothing and basic necessities.
- 2010
Education takes root
Tal Academy opens, giving children at the orphanage a quality K–8 education.
- 2014
Ebola response
When Ebola devastates Liberia, we help 400 children who lost parents find foster homes and support their new families every month.
- 2016
Expanding reach
A food program begins serving 10 orphanages in critical need across the country.
- 2019
A loss that changed everything
Theresa, a child in our care, dies from cerebral malaria. With no healthcare nearby, she couldn’t be saved in time. Her death reveals an urgent need, and a new calling.
- 2020
A shift to healthcare
We partner with ELWA Hospital in Monrovia and begin sending life-saving nutrition supplies to treat malnourished children.
- 2021
Breaking ground
Construction begins on the Jesus Loves Me Children’s Center in Bong County, not far from where Theresa lived.
- 2024
Doors open
The Children’s Center opens with free inpatient and outpatient care. The first child on bed #1, Rachel, comes in with cerebral malaria and goes home healthy two days later.
- Today
The busiest in Liberia
About 3,000 children’s visits a month, 50 full beds and 177 Liberian staff, living out Matthew 25:40 every day.
