His Safe Haven Outreach
More than 100 families recently gathered through His Safe Haven Outreach, a program dedicated to supporting children with disabilities and the parents who care for them.
For many families in Liberia, raising a child with a disability can be incredibly isolating. Cultural beliefs often cause children with disabilities to be viewed as a curse rather than a gift. Parents are frequently left feeling discouraged and without support. Some have spent years carrying the weight of these beliefs, wondering if anyone truly sees or values their child.
That is why His Safe Haven Outreach is so important!
Each gathering creates an opportunity for families to hear a different message. Parents are reminded that their children are not a mistake. They are not forgotten. They are precious children of God, created in His image and deeply loved by Him.
For some families, this is the first time they have ever heard that message.
As families gather, conversations take place that challenge long-held beliefs. Parents hear from others walking a similar journey. They are encouraged by people who understand the challenges they face. Many leave knowing they are not alone.
Through the love of Christ and the faithful work of His Safe Haven, perceptions are beginning to shift across Liberia.
For many parents, this outreach is the first time someone has looked at their child and seen value instead of a burden. What begins at these gatherings doesn’t end when families return home. The conversations continue, and slowly perceptions begin to change.
