This May, we're telling the stories that don't make it to headlines — the ones whispered bedside in the Jesus Loves Me Children's Center in Liberia. From nurses who work through the night, to mothers who walked for hours, to doctors who sit at the edge of the bed and make impossible decisions. These are their words.

The Nurse

"Tonight I pulled my chair close and sat on the edge of his bed, just watching for those small changes."

You start to notice things that aren't written anywhere in a chart. The way a mother leans forward in her chair, as if she could will her child to get better. The way a child's body rests when it's too tired to fight, and the subtle shift when strength begins to return.

When he arrived, he barely had the energy to lift his head. Severe malnutrition had taken so much from him. We started treatment, monitoring every response, waiting for even the smallest sign of progress.
